PAKISTAN PETROLEUM LIMITED Pakistan Petroleum Limited is a premier oil and gas exploration and production company of the country. The company is operating a number of oil and gas fields, the largest being gas field at Sui, name of which is synonymous with natural gas in Pakistan. The company has openings for the following positions in its Drilling Operations Department: CHIEF ENGINEER QUALIFICATION: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering. EXPERIENCE: 20 years in Maintenance, Overhauling of Drilling Rig and its ancillary equipments. THE CANDIDATES SHOULD HAVE HANDLED: * Development of project plans and overseeing of logistic arrangement for safe movement of equipment and assets from warehouse to drilling locations. * Development of rig maintenance plans. * Environmental monitoring during well operations. * Providing administrative support to well site drilling teams. DEPUTY CHIEF ENGINEER (DRILLING AND WORK OVER) QUALIFICATION: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Petroleum Engineering. EXPERIENCE: 12 years diversified experience in drilling and work-over operations. The candidates should have handled: * Well planning of drilling and work-over projects including HPHT and horizontal wells. * Preparation of drilling and work-over programmes, well cost estimates, and tender documents / bid evaluations of drilling services. * Negotiation of contracts. COMPANY SITE REPRESENTATIVE QUALIFICATION: 3 years Diploma of Associate Engineering in Mechanical Technology. EXPERIENCE: 5 years in Drilling Operations on deep oil and gas wells. THE CANDIDATES SHOULD HAVE HANDLED: * Execution of drilling and work-over operations including completion of wells. * Technical audit of the rig ancillary equipment; and surface equipment earmarked for operation. * Management of operations at well sites. * Safety audit of rig. CHIEF GEOLOGIST QUALIFICATION: Master's degree in Geology. EXPERIENCE: 20 years in petroleum industry in the field of development geology. THE CANDIDATES SHOULD HAVE HANDLED: * Supervision of geological operations from Head Office. * Coordination with service companies at the planning stage and during drilling operations. * Planning and preparing of wire line logging, coring, mud logging and cementing programmes for wells. * Preparing of budget estimates / tender documents and bid evaluations for finalization of contracts. * Monitoring of service contractors in an efficient and timely manner. GEOLOGIST QUALIFICATION: Master's degree in Geology. EXPERIENCE: 10 years in Petroleum industry in the field of development geology. THE CANDIDATES SHOULD HAVE HANDLED: * Duties at well site as Geologist. * Supervision of cementation programmes, wire line logging and coring operations. * Supervision and providing assistance in kick controls. * Compilation of well histories. * Assistance in carrying out Technical / Financial evaluation of bids for various services. ENGINEER (DRILLING) QUALIFICATION: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering. EXPERIENCE: 10 years including 5 years experience as Drilling Engineer. The candidates should have handled: * Designing of wells and preparation of drilling programmes. * Evaluation for selection of contract rig and services. * Supervision of critical well operations at well site. * Assistance in supervision of well site operation from Head Office. DRILLER QUALIFICATION: 3 years Diploma of Associate Engineering in Mechanical Technology. The candidates possessing valid well control certificate would be preferred. EXPERIENCE: 10 years experience in drilling / work-over rigs with at least 5 years as a Driller. THE CANDIDATES SHOULD HAVE HANDLED: * Well head installations, fishing and packer milling, directional drilling, DST and well completion operations. * Drilling operations in conformity with safety regulations. * Down hole and well control operations. ASSISTANT ENGINEER (MUD) QUALIFICATION: Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or Master's degree in Chemistry or Petroleum Geology. EXPERIENCE: 7 years in drilling operations. THE CANDIDATES SHOULD HAVE HANDLED: * Preparation of drilling fluid programmes. * Supervision of mud parameters and consumption of mud chemicals. GENERAL * Preferred age for the positions of Chief Engineer, Chief Geologist, Deputy Chief Engineer and Company Site Representative is below 45 years while for Driller and Assistant Engineer it is below 35 years. * Candidates with postgraduate qualifications from reputable foreign universities would be preferred and some relaxation in experience may be considered in their case. * Candidates possessing engineering degrees should be registered with Pakistan Engineering Council. * Candidates should be fully conversant with required safety standards and procedures. * Candidates should be skilled in use of computers especially latest software packages related to their area of activity. * Candidates are expected to possess initiative, innovativeness, good interpersonal skills, strong leadership qualities, ability to handle multiple tasks and train their staff. * Effective communication skills, both oral and written including preparation of technical reports. * Candidates who have obtained a third division in their career need not apply. * Only short-listed candidates would be contacted.
