THE AGA KHAN UNIVERSITY Aga Khan University (AKU), a private international university chartered in Pakistan is a role model for academic, research and service programmes in health and higher education in the developing world. AKU currently has nine teaching sites in six countries, and well-equipped affiliated hospitals in Karachi and Nairobi, offering state-of-the-art diagnostic and clinical services. Applications are invited for the following position: PROFESSOR AND CHAIR,DEPARTMENT OF FAMILY MEDICINE (based in Karachi) AKU has played a pioneer role in establishing the first Family Medicine Department, a structured four-year Residency and an undergraduate curriculum in Family Medicine in Pakistan. The department is actively involved in providing quality on- and off-campus clinical care to all socio-economic groups as well as contributing to education and research activities of the University. The department has strong links with international academic institutions / colleges and universities. The Chair will provide dynamic leadership to the department and will have overall responsibility for the conduct of its academic and service mandate. Candidates must have suitable post-graduate qualifications with extensive managerial and clinical experience at a senior level in a teaching hospital. Achievements in research and teaching as well as a positive leadership style in promoting Family Medicine nationally and internationally are essential. The appointment will be initially for 3 years, renewable for a further 2 years subject to performance review.
